Types of Funds

Find the fund that fits your giving goals

There’s more than one way to make a lasting difference. Whether you want to support the community’s greatest needs, invest in a cause you care about, help students pursue their future, or create a charitable plan for your family, we can help you choose the fund that fits your goals.

Fund Types

Unrestricted Funds

Unrestricted funds give the Community Foundation flexibility to respond to West Kentucky’s most pressing needs and opportunities. These funds help support important work as needs change over time.

Designated Funds

Designated funds provide ongoing support to a specific nonprofit organization. This is a meaningful way to create lasting support for a cause or organization you value.

Field-of-Interest Funds

Field-of-interest funds allow you to support a broader area of interest, such as education, health, the arts, or community needs. These funds give you flexibility while still focusing your impact in the areas you care about most.

Donor-Advised Funds

Donor-advised funds allow you to make a charitable gift, receive an immediate tax benefit, and recommend grants over time to the causes and organizations you want to support.

Scholarship Funds

Scholarship funds help students pursue education and future opportunities. Donors can often help shape the purpose of the fund, including the type of student or area of study they want to support.

Agency Funds

Agency funds are created for nonprofit organizations and provide professionally managed charitable resources that can support their mission over time.
